October 2 - 6, we will enjoy Fall Break.  Our next day scheduled to be out of school is for Thanksgiving Break.

October 11, Report cards go home.

October 13, we will go to the Pumpkin Patch at the Methodist Church.  Students will get faces painted, play games, and listen to stories.  For safety reasons, students should wear tennis shoes or some type of "closed toe" shoes.  We will leave at 9:00 and return around 11:30.  They will have lots to tell you!

October 16, we will go to Franklin Memorial Library.  Students will enjoy a puppet show and stories. We will leave the school at 9:00 and return around 11:00.

October 31, we will have a "Candy Swap".  Check back for ways you can help make it fun.

Please continue to work with your child on letter sounds.  We are learning to blend the sounds together to read words.  We start by identifying the first letter sound of words of simple CVC words (Consonant/Vowel/Consonant words).  Students should be able to tell you the letter sound he/she hears that the beginning of words like:  pig /p/; hot /h/; log /l/; .  Practice this skill with your child to help him/her build confidence.

Please have your child at school on time daily.  Breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m.. and ends at 8:05.  If students are not in the classroom at 8:10, they are considered late for school and will marked tardy. If your child misses a day (or more) of school, send a note or doctor's excuse.  Only five (5) notes fromm home are excepted.  After five notes from home, you must have a doctor's excuse.    If your child's afternoon transportation plans change, please send a note.

Please provide a daily snack for your child.  Kindergarten sells snacks:  chips (Doritos) 50c; 10 oz. water 50c; gummies $1.  We have about 10 minutes for snack. I love seeing students having a "healthy" snack, but I prefer nothing that is easily spilled (fruit cups, applesauce, yogurts, or drinks other than water).  Ice cream is sold for $1.00 on Fridays only.   Choices vary, but some flavors are:  fudge cycle, drumstick, strawberry shortcake, orange push-pop.

Box Tops for Education are greatly appreciate.  We also collect Coke product bottle tops and tabs; and use printer ink cartridges.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.  Thanks for all you do!
