Reading is the heart of education, and the only way to get better at reading is to do it. It is important for your child to be a confident reader. The better a child can read and comprehend what is being read, the better he/she will do in school.
I want students to develop a love for reading. I read to your child in class every day. The stories I read show MY love for reading, and I hope my love of reading will instill the love of reading in your child. Be a role model for your child. Set aside time to read at home every day. To encourage your child to "read their heart out" this is year, our class is participating in Pizza Hut's Book It program. It encourages students to read daily.
The goal is for your child to read ten (10) books a month. Please read at least two (2) books a week with your child at home. If your child reaches this goal, he/she will receive a Reading Award Certificate (coupon) for a FREE one topping personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut! (The coupon expires after 30 days, so don't wait too long to use it.)
** Your child will also receive an official Reading Journal when you visit Pizza Hut. Complete all six months to collect all six official stickers, and you can enter for a change to win a $10,000 college scholarship.
