November

I can't believe its November already!  We have lots planned this month as you can see below.  We will learn about the brave heroes we call Veterans.  If you are a Veteran, we thank you for your service.  If you have anything you would like to share with our class, please let me know.

We will learn about Pilgrims and Native Americans and the roles they played in building our country. One project we will enjoy is creating a Native American outfit.  Students will design/decorate a khaki color t-shirt to wear at our Pilgrimage on November 17th.  I can get shirts for $3.00.  I will place the order on November 3rd.  If you would like for me to include your child in the order, I need your $3 no later than Friday, November 3.  Your child will keep the shirt to wear it home on the 17th.  If you have any old t-shirt paint you no longer need/use, we will gladly accept the donation.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

October 30 -  Book Fair begins - Students will be allowed to "shop" for books, posters, erasers, bookmarks, and other stuff during the Book Fair.  Items begin at 50¢ for small items like erasers; $1. for pencils,  books are $1.00 - $15.00 (maybe more).

November 1 - Christmas Pictures will be taken by Mark Williams.  More information will be sent as I receive it.

November 2 - Fall Festival  (5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.) A good time to be had by all!  There will be fun and games, a cake walk, cupcake decorate, corn hole, and lots of other fun stuff.  Tickets are 50¢ each.

November 3 - Book Fair ends.  If you miss the Book Fair, watch the Scholastic Book Club flyers I send home.  Some of the same books you may have missed can be ordered.

Farm & Career Day:  There will be pigs, goats, chickens, horses and other farm animals.  There will be farm equipment such as combines, tractors and plows.  Altamaha EMC will have a electricity demonstration.  Students will get to "milk" a cow, and learn about life long ago.  The helicopter, ambulance and firetruck may be there, if there are no emergencies to keep them from appearing.

November 6 - Story hour at Franklin Memorial Library.  We will listen to stories and watch a puppet show.

November 8 - Progress Reports go home. Please sign and return the Progress Report so I know you have seen it.  I will make a copy of it for my records, with the signature, and return it to you.

November 13 - 17 - American Education Week

November 17 - Pilgrimage (9:00 a.m..)  (We will wear the Native American t-shirts we make for this event.  Students will wear his/her shirt home.)
