  • School Closings/Delays:

April 1, 2020 - Governor Brian Kemp has just signed an Executive Order closing all school districts for the remainder of the school year.  This is an unprecedented decision that I know was not taken lightly.  At this point, there are more questions than answers.  The Emanuel County School district will work over the next several weeks to provide answers to these questions.  We ask that our community continue to follow all recommendations regarding hand washing, social distancing and staying home when possible.  We pray everyone stays safe and healthy!

As you know, a child’s first years in school can set the tone for the future school years.  For this reason it is important to make sure they are prepared socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically to enter kindergarten. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) has partnered with the Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) in an effort to help both schools and families with the transition to kindergarten.

We are pleased and excited to announce the launch of a parent resource website for the GKIDS Readiness Check!   The site will serve as a resource for parents to learn more about kindergarten readiness, the skills assessed on the GKIDS Readiness Check, and activities to help support their child’s development at home.  The site includes Spanish translation and closed captioning. Visit KReady.gadoe.org to learn more.
