Gifted
Mission
Our mission is to offer differentiated instruction to students who demonstrate a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibit a high degree of motivation, and excel in specific academic areas. We offer education opportunities for all students to develop the skills necessary to reach their maximum potential as responsible, productive citizens, and life-long learners.
Goals
The goals of the OUTLOOK Program are consistent with the guidelines set forth by the Georgia Department of Education.
- To identify at every level in every school those students who are gifted.
- To provide an educational program which will enable gifted students to capitalize on their unique abilities, talents, interest, and needs.
- To provide academic enrichment and acceleration for gifted students.
My will shall shape the future. Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own. I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before me, or I can be lost in the maze. My choice; my responsibility; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.

Gifted Nomination Information
Spring Gifted Nomination Window Information
ECS will accept nominations of students for gifted services January 7-30. 2026. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible for nomination during this testing window. Teachers, parents, guardians, students, or peers may nominate any student who meets the specifications for this window of consideration.
- After January 30th, nominations are closed and each school's eligibility team will review student data to determine if a formal evaluation for gifted services is required.
- A nomination does not guarantee a formal evaluation. Gifted Services are based on need. The review team must establish whether the evidence confirms the need for a formal evaluation.
- Parents or guardians will be notified of the committee’s decision once the review is complete. They will receive a Permission to Test Form to sign and return to their child's school. This form is required before testing can begin.
- Testing will begin after teams have taken time for the data review and the receipt of a Permission to Test Form by the gifted lead at the child's home school.
- Students who qualify through spring testing will begin services in August.
